Etsuko is a patient and gifted teacher who has inspired a deep love of piano, music theory, and performance in our son. He began studying with Etsuko at the age of 9, and under her guidance, he has developed an impressive proficiency in piano. Most importantly, she helped nurture a mindset of joy, curiosity, and self-motivation—he practices because he loves it. Thanks to Etsuko, he truly enjoys his time at the piano and feels confident in his abilities.

Through Etsuko’s patient and thoughtful lessons, my daughter is discovering joy and curiosity in playing the piano. Etsuko not only teaches the fundamentals but also nurtures a genuine love for music. She tunes into my daughter’s vibe and keeps the lessons engaging. Thanks to Etsuko’s genuine love of teaching and mentoring, my daughter’s confidence and passion for music have truly blossomed.

 

We’re especially grateful for the annual recital—it offers Miro a meaningful opportunity to perform in an intimate setting and experience the wonderful range of talent and ages among Etsuko’s students.

Etsuko has been my piano teacher for several years, and studying with her has been an incredibly rewarding experience. She is not only a patient and supportive teacher, but also an exceptionally knowledgeable and talented musician. Under her guidance, I’ve grown significantly—not just by learning new pieces, but also in music theory, sight-reading, and overall musical understanding.

Etsuko takes the time to tailor each lesson to my interests and goals, which keeps me motivated and engaged. She has a remarkable ability to instill confidence, helping me tackle challenging pieces I never thought I could play. One of the highlights of our time together was when she accompanied me on violin for two pieces I learned—an experience that deepened my appreciation for playing music with another person.

“Etsuko Tajima started teaching our boys when they were 7 and 4 years old. She gave them not only a comfort playing piano but also a foundation for learning music theory, reading music, and a love for the instrument. Now at 17 and 14 years — even though the boys don't take lessons from Etsuko any more — they are both still regularly playing piano, and even are composing their own music. We are grateful to Etsuko for the music that continues to fill our house to this day.”
